The Photographic Tour to the Yucatan, from November 5 to 15, 2019, is another of our star destinations for 2019. An exciting destination at a cultural, social and humanistic level, a dream of many photographers throughout the planet, which we now offer you the opportunity to photograph in all its splendor.
Within this extraordinary 11-day photographic tour, we will photograph magical places like Tulum, the world’s number 1 tourist destination for Tripadvisor in recent years. We will also visit the incredible Mayan ruins of Chichen Itza and Uxmal among others. Or the spectacular Holbox Island, with its magnificent beaches where, at night, if we are lucky, we can capture the bioluminescence of its waters.
In addition, this photographic trip to the Yucatan is one of our photo trips with a greater social component. In each of our destinations, we can photograph local people doing their routine tasks. From artisans or vendors in their jobs, to pedestrians and citizens shopping in the markets, to Mayan populations that maintain their traditions in the middle of the jungle. Without a doubt, the almost constant possibility of getting fantastic portraits will be another of the highlights of this incredible photo tour.
A destination with so many possibilities facilitates the realization of a really complete program, and that will take us to the maximum from the first moment, until practically the last day, before moving to the airport to undertake the return home.
Among the many sessions that we will carry out, the sunrises and sunsets that we will spend photographing some of the most important Mayan archeological sites, with special private entrance to capture them in a unique moment of light and away from the agglomerations of tourists.
So that you can have the maximum and best possibilities of obtaining great images, we have prepared this Photographic Trip to the Yucatan with the highest level of detail and knowledge of the terrain. Therefore, you can enjoy almost constant photographic possibilities during each of the days of our stay in this beautiful country.

Arrival to Cancun Group meeting and start of the trip.
Depending on the arrival time, we will try to photograph the sunset at Tulum Beach. Night at our hotel to rest and prepare for the next day.
Day 2 – Tulum
Dawn in the ruins of Tulum at dawn, with special entrance outside the schedule of tourist visits, to catch the sunset from these ruins overlooking the Caribbean.
At the end we can visit, the ruins of Muyil, another of the Mayan cities hidden in the jungle and that will serve as a gateway for the excursion to the Sian ka’an lagoon that we will make by boat in the afternoon, where we can discover more ruins Mayan and with a bit of luck photographing alligators or pelicans that populate this lagoon, gateway to the Caribbean.
Day 3 – Coba
Like the day before, we will get up early to visit the incredible Mayan city of Coba. Where we can photograph at dawn the highest pyramid in the entire Yucatan with its 42 meters. We can even climb it helped by its rope, as it is one of the few pyramids in the entire region where it is allowed to climb to photograph the Yucatecan jungle from above.
At the end of the visit, we will visit a nearby Mayan population: Hidalgo Camp. We will be able to photograph the life of the current Maya in their environment and know the environment of the spider monkey, since thanks to this population, this area has become a sanctuary where we can almost certainly photograph them traveling through the jungle. We will wait for the sunset in the lagoon to later arrive in Valladolid to photograph its streets and rest in the city.
Day 4 – Ek Balam and Cenotes
We will visit another of the most important Mayan cities in the region: Ek Balam. Again we can photograph these impressive ruins, both from the ground, and from the top of its pyramids.
The rest of the day we will dedicate to visit the spectacular ones of the Valladolid area, visiting in the last place the Ik Ill cenote, near the ruins of Chichen Itza, and famous worldwide for its incredible beauty that will give us a lot of play to make incredible photographs. We will rest in a hotel in the same ruins of Chichen Itza, to be ready the next day.
Day 5 – Chichen Itza.
We will get up early again, to visit Chichen Itza at its best: at dawn and without tourists. We can also take advantage of the sunrise, to photograph the Mayans who arrive with their crafts at their street stalls, and get fantastic portraits of their people.
In the afternoon, we will depart to Izamal, the yellow city where we will visit its famous monastery and its most incredible yellow-painted streets that will give us an incredible game to get fantastic photographs at sunset and also thinking about sunrise the next day.
Day 6 – Celestun
After getting up early and taking a last walk through the streets of Izamal, we will leave for the Celestún reserve. Where we will visit its mangroves by boat and photograph the pelicans that populate this lagoon.
In the afternoon, we will photograph the sunset from its beaches and sleep in our hotel that will serve as a base for the next days in Mérida.
Day 7 – Puuc Route
Today we will get up early to visit the Puuc route, where in addition to being able to photograph the incredible city of Uxmal and the rest of the nearby ruins, we will visit lost ruins in the jungle thanks to local guides, who will take us through the jungle to capture unique photographs. At dusk we return to our hotel in Mérida to rest.
Day 8 – Bacalar
We will begin the trip of about 5 hours, to reach Bacalar, again in the Riviera Maya. Along the way we will have the possibility to visit colonial architecture and take more social photography in Acanceh and its market, as well as in other towns that we will find while crossing the Yucatecan jungle.
Already in the Laguna de Bacalar, or of the 7 colors, we will have the possibility to photograph the incredible landscapes of its crystalline waters during the sunset, with its typical cabins we will be able to take incredible photographs at sunset. We will value a night photography session in the area.
Day 9 – Akumal
We will get up early again to take more pictures of the lagoon at its best, which is sunrise, since the sun will rise right in front of us.
After that, we will approach Tulum again, to visit Akumal this time, where on its beach we can photograph and bathe with its turtles. At sunset we can take incredible photographs of the Caribbean beaches in the area.
Day 10 – Holbox Island.
We will depart to Isla Holbox, north of the Yucatan, where after taking the ferry we will arrive at this wonderful island. We will use the afternoon to visit its beaches and prepare the frames to photograph the sunset. At night we will try to find in hidden beaches the bioluminescence of its waters.
Day 11 – Return home
In the morning, we will take the last photographs at dawn on Isla Holbox, before making the transfer to the Cancun airport and ending the photographic trip to Mexico. Flight back home.
The price for this fantastic 11 days (10 nights) long Yucatan Photo Tour is $2750, per person, in a double shared room.

Price per person based on a minimum group number and for a double room (double – occupancy basis). Single room occupancy cost is $720.
‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ carefully plans each one of the routes that it is offering, adapting always to the travelers’ needs. However, due to each country particularities and conditions, it is possible that the routes could vary, changing the itineraries and the places to visit.
In this sense, it will be up to the photographer/s guide/s the decision of changing any of the programmed activities and shooting sessions for each day, depending on factors as weather or light conditions, or by their consideration or thoughts, being the tour hosts, always in search of the best possible experiences and moments of light for the customers of this trip.
The program may also be changed in case of emergency, injury, illness, or robbery of any of the participants or main photographers, among other causes.
t the same time, both the photographers and ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ reserves the right of changing the photographer/s guide/s in case of strong reason, such as first grade relatives or own illness or hospitalization, severe health problems, accidents, etc. In those cases, the agency will bring another photographer able to guide the group in the same destination.
The traveler is responsible of having all the documentation for the trip. To visit Mexico, citizens from Spain need their Passport, with an expiration date longer than 6 months after the trip.

Travelers from other countries would need a valid Passport and may need a visa. Always check the requirements with your country authorities before traveling to a foreign country. The photographers and ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ have no responsibility about each traveler’s documentation or the requirements to be allowed to enter in Yucatan or any other country.
Neither the travel company ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ nor the photographers hosting the trip have any responsibility about the travelers documentation or about their allowance or refusal entering the visited country.
This Yucatan Photo Tour includes basic assistance insurance. Those travelers who wish to, can get an advanced insurance for an additional cost. In this case, ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ will inform and help the client to choose insurance with conditions and coverings adapted to the client and the travel purchased.
‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ will give personal counseling and advice to travelers when purchasing their trip. Clients will be given a list with all that they need for the route, tips about how to prepare a medical kit for the travel, recommendations about the photography gear for the place and kind of photography, etc. Our staff will be delighted to solve any doubt that the clients could have when preparing the trip.
We are completely sure that this Yucatan Photo Tour will be an unforgettable experience for travelers, as well as an intensive photography experience. ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ considers it its responsibility, as the travel agent, to promote values such as respect (cultural, social and environmental). Those values will always prevail in all our trips. At the same time, ‘Dream Photo Expeditions’ will always ensure that the impact of their trips is never negative for the country, their citizens or their wildlife.
The client declares that he or she accepts all the conditions on this trip at the time he or she makes a reservation payment for it.
At the moment of the purchase confirmation, the client will have to pay an initial payment of €600 (around $677 as of July the 26th, 2019). The rest of the payment will be effective at maximum 20 days prior to the trip. The agency can resolve the contract and apply the established withdrawal rules before the departure if the client doesn’t make effective any of the expected payments in the deadline, as the terms previously seen. The features that make up the combined travel contract come from the information given to the client in the brochure or program, as well as from the indications regarding this information that could have been given when confirming the reservation.
In case the agency doesn’t complete the minimum needed group to confirm the trip, the client will recover the 100% of the initial payment.
However if the client doesn’t show or cancels the trip, the following cancellation policies will be applied:
– Until 30 days prior to the trip: €600
– 30 days prior to the trip: 100% of the trip cost (no refund at all).
Prices are based in the Exchange rates by August the 29th, 2017. The currency may be updated until 21 days prior to the departure, according to Spanish Travel Laws, applying a supplement/discount in case of change.
Once the reservation is done by the client, and the services and their prices are confirmed by the agency, these prices only could be revised until 20 calendar days prior to the departure dates, only in case there are variations in the transportation costs (including the fuel prices), in accommodations, in rates and taxes referring to certain services (such as landing, boarding in ports and airports), or in monetary exchange rates applied to the trip.
